Let's Go to the News is an informal segment on the show in which the hosts discuss current news items, with a general focus on political content. It appears when the hosts feel inspired or incensed by the news of the day and wish to share it; thus, not every episode has a news discussion segment. The segment is also rarely if ever present on episodes with guests.
Episodes with Joe are much more likely to have this segment than episodes with Alexis.
The segment did not have an official name or bumper music until after EP 11. Curiously, the bumper music also stopped being used almost immediately after its introduction.

Lars created the bumper for this segment by sampling an old episode of Garfield & Friends, and splicing a slowed down clip of himself and Joe saying "let's go to the news" from a previous episode.
