Having no intention of remaining serious on air, Lars frequently breaks the fourth wall and delves into metafictional discussion. This is often exaggerated in the editing room where Lars rearranges, amplifies and cuts audio clips to make the episode more surreal. One of his favorite editing tricks is to put a completely wrong song clip in the episode when the hosts reference it on air.

Lars is the director, editor and main host of The First Podcast.

Appearances

Lars has appeared on every episode of the show thus far.[1] He has stated a desire for Joe and Alexis to do an episode with him in absentia, but so far they have only shared the air one time for a brief moment when Lars disconnected.

Lars would also like to do an episode where the interns or the guests host the show without any of the main co-hosts.

Recording style/personality

Lars is dry, witty and optimistic. He enjoys delivering his opinions, but isn't overly cynical. While the real Lars is playing something of a character on air, there is not much of a difference between the two.

On episodes where Joe is present, he serves as sort of a straight-man to Joe's antics, often becoming the victim of small pranks and setups. On episodes where Alexis is present, the discussion is a bit more even-toned, with frequent innuendos and mocking jabs at one another.

Personal life

Not much is directly known about him other than the budding rom-com romance between him and Alexis. However, listeners can piece together a great deal of information about the guy indirectly by listening to the questions he asks Joe and Alexis.

It's also not like his social media accounts aren't public. You can just, you know, ask me -- I mean him -- stuff.

Some of his main stated principles in life include:

  • There's always another woman.
  • What makes you happy? Go do that.
  • Learn something every day.
